Soma Silence

DESCRIPTION

Soma Silence is a multilayer acoustic insulation specifically designed to reduce footstep noise in floating screed systems. Its structure is made of an upper layer of polypropylene nonwoven fabric, a central fiberglass mesh, and a bottom layer of high-resilience polyester mat, all bonded with a special bituminous compound. Soma Silence features a 5 cm overlap band.
The product functions based on the mass-spring principle: the soft, elastic polyester mat acts as the resilient element separating rigid layers (screed and slab), reducing the transmission of footstep vibrations. The bituminous layer, coated with black nonwoven fabric, serves as the sound-resistant component.
It is airtight, waterproof, and enhances acoustic performance by filling pores that would otherwise allow sound propagation. It also prevents cement grout from penetrating during screed installation.
Thanks to the combination of mass and resilience, Soma Silence effectively attenuates structure-borne sound and offers strong mechanical resistance during installation and against sharp edges in the substrate.

APPLICATION

Soma Silence is designed for use in floating floor systems as a resilient layer between the structural slab and the screed, over which any type of floor covering can be installed.
Installation instructions: unroll the material in its natural direction; the side with the polyester mat faces down, while the nonwoven fabric faces up.
