Flooring | Impact Sound Insulation | Soma Silence
Soma Silence is a multi-layer acoustic insulation mat specifically designed to reduce impact noise in floating screed systems.
It consists of a top layer of black polypropylene nonwoven fabric, a central glass fibre mesh, and a resilient bottom layer of white polyester mat, all bonded with a special bituminous compound. Soma Silence is equipped with a 5 cm overlap strip.
The product operates on the mass-spring principle: the soft, elastic polyester mat acts as the resilient component, isolating the screed from the structural slab and reducing footfall and airborne noise transmission. The bitumen-coated upper layer functions as the sound-resisting mass, it is air- and water-tight, filling pores that would otherwise allow noise propagation.
It also prevents the ingress of cement grout during screed installation. Thanks to the combination of mass and resilience, Soma Silence effectively dampens solid-borne noise and offers excellent mechanical resistance during installation, including puncture resistance on uneven substrates.
Soma Silence is designed for use in floating floor systems, as a resilient layer placed between the structural slab and screed.
Any type of floor finish can be installed on top. Installation Notes: Unroll in the natural direction of the roll. The white polyester mat faces down, while the black nonwoven side should face upwards.
